This exhibition is held in the light and airy space of the atrium at the Traverse Theatre.
There are 13 triangular display cases each featuring 3 or 4 artists - from Japan to Manchester, Isle of Wight to Musselburgh. Various metals (precious and non) are twisted, stretched and bound into different shapes to adorn various body-parts. Fabrics, plastics, precious and semi-precious stones are woven into bizarre and intricate styles. Some are practical, some not.
Alena Asenbryl’s kaleidoscopic range of tiny plastic shards are entwined in fine wire, forming delicate necklets and bangles in green, cerise, sumptuous purple and claret.
Yoko Izawa’s designs of woven fabric stretched over glass beads and frames are almost ethereal - with muted tones of sea blues, greens and deep reds.
A recurrent theme seems to be non-matching pairs, such as Julie Allison’s cufflinks with one a tie and the other a briefcase; or Hannah Louise Lamb’s elegant oval-cut-out mis-matched earrings.
Gail Klevan’s designs of hand-painted acrylic are vibrant in rich mauves, blues and pinks; amber, chocolate and crimson; blues, yellows and greens.
There are some stunning pieces like Malcolm Morris’s silver torc bangles embossed with dots in a spiral or in wavy parallel lines - elegant and simple.
