Chortle Awards 2004

The debauched and stylish event that is the annual Chortle Awards took place on Monday 23 February 04 at Ealing Studios (writes John Park)

Awards went to Waen Shepherd as Gary Le Strange, Adam Hills, Alex Horne, Dara O'Briain, Justin Edwards as Jeremy Lion, Dave Gorman, Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure, Hannah Chambers of Comedy Cafe Management, Daniel Kitson, The Comedy Store, Amused Moose, XS Malarkey, Komedia, The Glee Club, Comedy Cavern, The Stand.

Jimmy Carr, fresh from a sun-bed session and a delicate shade of orange, hosted the event and presented some of the awards - assisted by distinguished industry members including Mackenzie Crook, Danny John Jules, Norman Lovett & Charlie Chuck. Award winners received an elegantly-designed transparent inscribed plaque. All took place under the benign supervision of Chortle's relaxed editor Steve Bennett.

Guests included: Urbane London PR Paul Sullivan, the fabulously handsome Matt Blaize; gifted comedians Charlie Chuck, Mackenzie Crook, Danny John Jules, Norman Lovett; suave A-List comedy promoter Rohan Acharya, artist Holly Lucas, outspoken headliner Andre Vincent, Karushi big-gun Lisa Thomas, fine comedian Nick Revell, up-and-coming stand-up Kevin Dewsbury, promoter and actor Matt Holt, pretty and just generally gorgeous stand-up Lucy Porter, ebullient headliner Dara O'Briain, Alison Blower (Mirth Control), fabulous character comic Steve Oram, equally fabulous character comic Tom Meeten, Julia Williamson, lovely Kate Darby aka Mrs Gary Le Strange, stylish Arnold Widdowson, gifted comedian Dave Gorman, the divine Ava Vidal, London's prettiest PR Kim Morgan, flame-haired temptress and comedy doyenne Hils Jago, the magnificent Justin Edwards aka Jeremy Lion aka The Consultants, charming and delightful ex-man-of-the-cloth Alfie Joey, gifted animator and comedian Howard Read, aimiable outstanding comic hunky Reginald D Hunter, fabulous film director & cameraman Mark Jackson, blonde bombshell Philly King, handsome and incisive comedian Neil Edmond, mega-talented & lovely award-winning Hannah Chambers, naughty boys of sketch and character comedy Andrew Hugh Jones & Ciaran Murtagh (The Black Sheep), stylish and gorgeous Greta McMahon, award-winning Chortle Editor Steve Bennett, comedian & Ealing Live! director John Gordillo, Ealing Studios producer Rob Moore.
