The Greatest Bubble Show on Earth

Verdict: Children's fun with bubbles

Edinburgh 08 - C too - 31 July to 25 Aug 08 - 13.10 (0:45)

The Greatest Bubble Show on Earth is an entertaining and fun show for children of all ages. There's a great variety of wonderful objects on stage: a large green tub, soap galore, kitchen towels, a trumpet, a clock - all a teaser for what's to come. The Amazing Bubble Man (Louis Pearl) enters in a slightly disappointing costume - or lack of costume - a scruffy pair of trousers and a t-shirt. The children don't mind one bit.

The Amazing Bubble Man has a shouting match with the children about who love bubbles the most: 'I love bubbles.' The bubble extravaganza begins. He impresses with different shapes and colours of bubbles using various items and self-made toys - which, he reminds the children and their parents, can be purchased from his website. Throughout the show he invites children to come on stage for bubble experiments. One that the children particularly love is kissing the bubble. He deals very well with the children, improvising on the spot.

The show includes some bubble science. This particular show seems to be aimed at a slightly younger audience, which doesn't dissuade the large number of parents who have brought babies and children from wanting to join in. One eager mother volunteers and is ushered on stage where she is enclosed in a bubble with a child on her shoulders - much to everyone's delight. There's a grand finale of The Amazing Bubble Man blowing bubbles through his trumpet.
