Laugh with Dean Scurry - Free
Verdict: High energy stand-up
Dean Scurry's opening tactic is like a firebrand, immediately involving all the audience. No-one actually bursts into flames and no-one comes to put the fire out, but the shouting and laughter are genuine and warm. He explains confusing meanings that words have if you're Irish, American or English. He tells of his childhood of poverty, violence and elocution lessons. His delivery is energetic and bouncy. Everyone joins in the elocution exercise.
Dean Scurry covers masturbation, his girlfriend and the dangers of Tippex. Tarzan, teddy bears, Kung Fu Panda and Sir David Attenborough provoke almost continuous laughter. The disgusting habits of some men - and his own father - are discussed at length. He provides a series of interview questions/answers that would screw up anyone's mind. Time passes quickly. Dean Scurry is in danger of overflowing into the next half-hour. His humour is basic, tending towards the lavatorial. But he makes people laugh at themselves, each other and with him.
