Tweedy's Lost Property

Verdict: Very talented clown

Edinburgh 07 – Meadow Theatre Big Tops - 6-14 Aug, 18-19 Aug, 15.00 - 15-17 Aug, 20-24 Aug, 17.00 - (1:00)

Stockton International Riverside Festival – Big Top @ Trinity Gardens - 1–4 Aug - 12.00 (1:00)

Tweedy (Alan Digwood) trots round a circus ring wordlessly introducing himself to the audience. Within the ring is his Lost Property Office. The phone rings and he just fails to get there to answer. On the way to the phone many times he is repeatedly attacked by his own body and various unlikely inanimate objects. Within this slight narrative Tweedy creates physical comedy of a very high order.

His prowess at manipulating objects so they seem to be alive and malicious is immense. Many of his tricks have been seen before but rarely performed so well. His engagement with the audience continues as he involves them in various bits of silliness and apparent danger. This is obvious from the smiles, giggles and belly laughs he creates. All ages warm to him finding different parts of his act hilarious.

There is sadness too. Finding a use for or some joy in a piece of lost property is fatal. It is immediately reclaimed.

Tweedy's timing sometimes could be a little better but the second half hour gathered impetus and the finale was magnificent involving 'New York, New York' and masking tape.

A show ideal for children from three to ninety-three.
