Jarlath Regan - Nobody Knows ... Jarlath ReganVerdict: Very funny mid-afternoon show
Jarlath Regan gives the oxymoronic first impression of being a giant-young boy as he bounds on, completing a humorous film of him sprinting to the venue. With flicky brown hair and a soft Irish accent, Regan is uber-relaxed and instantly likeable, and from the outset his show is conversational and friendly.
Laid back though he is, Jarlath Regan jaunts through traditional stand-up topics such as the drinking habits of the Irish and giving up the day job, but with a humour refreshing in its lack of stereotyping. In more adventurous parts of the show, Jarlath Regan shares his home-made greetings cards (for the occasions Clintons don’t cater for - such as when wanting to pretend-propose to a girlfriend), shares advice on women based on one relationship, and presents and dissects a selection of articles from local Irish papers. Witty and charming at all times, Jarlath Regan is also a natural story-teller, with much of his act bursting with spontaneity. Unlike perhaps many comedians, Jarlath Regan is able to treat his mid-afternoon show as that, rather than as a late-night comedy club.
Jarlath Regan’s show is the perfect after-lunch laugh with a charismatic and very funny man/giant boy.
