doktor cocacolamcdonalds: the one man rock opera.Verdict: Warm, charming comedy
doktor cocacolamcdonalds is one-man comedy cabaret, with nostalgia, storytelling, stand-up and song.
It evokes shows children put on in their bedrooms for their parents. The doktor is energetic and keen to share his tunes and ramblings, while tripping over his instruments and words and shouting 'shut up' at the occasional feedback.
The doktor is dressed in underpants and clown make-up, and his early calls for audience participation are intimidating. But a warm and charming performance quickly creates a friendly atmosphere - with spectators singing along, adding accompaniment, and even having their personality analysed via which Rocky film they prefer.
Songs are catchy and melodic, for all their simplicity. They cover a wide range of social issues - war, charity, technology, the internet, David Ike, hard-to-remove chewing-gum - with highlights 'feed celebrities to the third world' and 'don't join the army unless you want to kill people'.
It's very enjoyable comedy - lovely and fun, if one can relax within the unorthodox format.
