The Persian Cinderella
Verdict: Magical story land
Brighton - Sallis Benney Theatre - 11 May 06
Entertaining ages three upwards is quite a feat. But with the help of trapeze artistry, pyrotechnics, a great story and colourful design concepts, The Persian Cinderella managed both to entertain
and enlighten.
Using a simple hoop and suspended red silk curtains, the three energetic actresses left behind the proscenium stage for story land. The production was amply aided by the magical sounds of Iranian folk music - punctuated with Madonna and other western crooners who the children in the audience may or or may not have recognized. In any case, they were enthralled.
