Music Odyssey is a three-dimensional interpretation of Homers Odyssey through the use of film, surround sound, dance, light, electronic and live music. It takes place in an oval-shaped space, with the audience sitting along the walls.
The first part consists of a film with various images of nature and Greek ruins projected on to a screen on the ceiling the audience is invited to lie on cushions on the floor for the best view. This experience sets the stage and relaxes the audience for the main act where dancers in elaborate costumes mime several scenes of conflict and eventual victory, against a backdrop of dramatic electronic music.
Some of the scenes are preceded by external lighting combined with sound to create an effective feeling of real menace and fear. The images created by the performers are striking from a succession of bodies floating along water to an evil character dressed in gold.
