Haunted
Verdict: Ghost’s unfinished business
When Gordon (Glen Naden) gets a phone call from his dead wife Christine (Laura Monaghan), he thinks it’s a sick joke.
Christine appears, stuck between worlds - something is unfinished. She must discover what, before she can move on.
Gordon and Christine relive their first meeting as they try to find an answer. He's in hospital; she’s a nurse. After some false starts, the relationship develops. There is well-timed comedy as they fall for each other.
Acting is well-paced, writing is good - from a company with great potential. There are some points of detail. There's distraction as the excellent technical operator walks down creaking stairs. A mime of carrying shopping, and dangling feet in a stream, is not convincing. The actors don't seem relaxed about touching each other. Moves between conversation and narration are well done.
Gordon drinks. Christine leaves when he gets violent. He promises to stop drinking. They get back together. Action is interspersed with overlapping monologues - the situation as each sees it.
As they examine their lives together, Christine discovers the unpleasant truth.
