Greedy
Verdict: Comedy sketches & dance
Edinburgh 05 - Underbelly - 16:40 (0:55)
Greedy is a 1-hour sketch comedy show from a cast of four (2F, 2M).
Most of the skits are fairly original, rather than rehashes of old gags. Some follow venerable comedy formats - eg the invisible man. There's an update of the distracted orchestral timpani player - which must date back decades, but still comes across well.
As with most sketch humour, this show will not push the boundaries of the Fringe - it is just good solid fun. If it does have one message from the heart, it's the monologue in which Pepa Mivey (Felicity Wren) does a video cv to introduce her gifts - including actress and juggler. Each performer is a well-constructed package of talents, ready to entertain.
Greedy uses dance as segues between skits. Dance is also the focus in one particularly good scene - a Shakespearean battle of MCs. The cast clearly love to dance, and it is fun to see them enjoying themselves doing it. Their moves during the recurring theme of T-Rex at play are superb.
