Sound @ The Muse

Verdict: Art of sound

London - The Muse - 4 May 05 - 20:15 (22:30)

Sound @ The Muse is a monthly night bringing together sound artists from around the world to meet and perform. It features sound-scapes, sonic art, and improvisation.

Brett Gowlett gives a spirited delivery of playful vocal expression over music made from a melange of recorded noises. Smack Miranda & Chris Weaver look tonight like intense computer hackers. They sit hunched in preoccupation over laptops, producing abstract industrial sound. Wajid Yaseen is the third sound art performer. Vocals on the first track are by performance artist Franko B. During Wajid Yaseen's set there is a performance organised by Andreas Constantinou. A man and two women come from the lavatory covered in slime. They’re naked but for dress shirts – which come off fast. There’s a 20-minute improvised performance piece that leaves a trail of grey clay in their wake. They contort and convulse, as people unexpectedly confronted with the naked carefully look away.
