Dude! Where's My Teddy Bear?

Verdict: Lost bear quest

Edinburgh 04 - C Venues - 10:00 (45mins)

www.wheresmyteddy.com

What does a boy do when he wakes up and finds he beloved teddy bear is missing?

With Granny in tow, Max goes on a big adventure searching for Teddy. He goes to the beach, meets a helpful surfer dude, a flubbery whale, a rock 'n' roll robot and ends up on the moon with the magical Moon Gerbil.

This is a kid's version of 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure'. It's delightfully presented by production company Modify the Van.

Scene changes are made by swishing the large curtain backdrop, taking the audience from Max’s bedroom to the moon. Songs are catchy, and the children in the audience shout and shriek out when asked - waving their teddies in the air. It's a BYOB show – bring your own bear. Those who don't have one can have a rent-bear from the lost teddies sack.

Max (Jonny Berliner) is gangly with a mop of unruly black curls, and has the wide-eyed innocence of a small boy. He's mortified by the loss of his favourite teddy. Granny (Georgia Nicholson) has a Northern accent - and you can almost smell the lavender water.

Surfer Dude (James Lamont) is radical, Dude - with bright shirt and looking for the next big wave. Whale (Robin Grey) is bendy and flubbery and only speaks to people who flubber. There are some old puns thrown in. Robot (Georgia Nicholson) hankers to be a rock 'n' roll star. Surfer Dude and Max help out and get taken for a ride.

Moon Gerbil (Isabel Fay) is the quiet, magical, blue-and-silver caretaker of all lost toys, who finally helps Max discover where Teddy is.

The children certainly don't hold back when they think adults are wrong, and heckle - adding to the charm of this piece of theatre.
