Doniert MacFarlane
in
Colin Montgomerie Stole My Life

Verdict: Funny character comedy

Edinburgh 04 - CO2 - 18.55 (1 hr)

AmusedMoose

In a hot crammed basement venue (get a pint from the bar beforehand), Doniert MacFarlane introduces the characters that play around in his mind.

With clever video links, there's repugnant Bolton Bob prowling Croydon for a wife. Reactions from unsuspecting 'Joe Public' range from dissing him completely to accepting his proposal. Embittered American pro-golfer Hugh Jahss tries to sell dodgy golfing gear while slagging off rival Colin Montgomerie.

Charmless talent scout Michael Hunt chooses a Dalmatian, an elephant and a kangaroo to be the next biggest pop-group over auditioning humans. Australian Rules footballers Dunny and Cody (Doniert MacFarlane’s brother Alexander) aka The Tyler Brothers create havoc London parks.

Members of the audience brought up to join Hugh Jahss and Mike Hunt on stage are rewarded with T-shirts and videos. Doniert MacFarlane's use of video with live action is skilled, fast-paced, and very funny. As a performer, he’s hugely likeable, good-looking. And charming - tonight's audience includes proud mum and dad Monica and Mungo.

By night, stand-up. By day, Doniert MacFarlane's an orthopaedic surgeon. Trust him with a scalpel? A worst nightmare as the anaesthetic takes a grip would be Hugh Jahss peering down and complaining about his prostrate.

Cast Credits: Written & performed by Doniert MacFarlane. Except: Cody Tyler, performed by Alexander MacFarlane.

Company Credits: Amused Moose Comedy, Artistic Director - Hils Jago. PR- Jennifer Dempsie (Tartan Silk). Technical operation - venue staff.
