Phyllis Foundis
in
The Virgin Club
Verdict: The ebullient Phyllis Foundis
Phyllis Foundis presents a hour-long show in lecture-format - with film, graphics, sound-track, and simulated orgasm - about her expectation of sexual intercourse, and the reality.
She describes childhood and adolescence as a Greek-Australian, and her earnest wish to have sex. She finally achieves it at 26, and it sounds like fun.
On the way there are fumblings, orgasms, vibrators (an imaginative computer-graphics sequence), a Greek holiday (but no Greek-style). And a remarkable mother - who gets some of the best lines - eg on Phyllis's bisexual musings: 'I admire attractive women too; but I don't want to lick their cunts'
For people who've had sex (and its anticipation), there's possibly nothing new. But it's a show that might catch fire - the preview audience liked it. The secret is not perhaps what's in it, but the highly engaging personality of its performer - the ebullient and delightful Phyllis Foundis.
