Bridget Christie
Andrew Doyle
Stefano Paolini

Three Stand Up Comics

Verdict: Enlightened stand-up

London - Canal Café - 23 March 04

A one-off evening of stand-up by three comedians, each for 20 minutes.

Bridget Christie delivers a lively set rooted initially in the West Country - specifically Gloucester. Cheese-rolling, Fred West and half-bred foresters are covered, and Gloucester's annual competition for children: 'Find your real daddy'. The set examines Irish Catholic origins, fat people, Osama Bin Laden and the single life, among many more topics including dog-walking. It's sharp observational humour, given with wit and style.

Stefano Paolini reflects on Northern-Italy Catholic origins, and delivers some remarkable impersonations, from Eminem (on beat-box), to Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Michael Caine, The Queen, and a legion more. Raised in London, he reflects on the implications of a family lineage from Parma, food (and heroin) capital of Italy. It's constantly resourceful wit, following a loose narrative with many adroit tangents. Best of all are the remarkable impressions.

Andrew Doyle delivers an extremely funny set.
