Short Film - 9 minutes -
Rogue Element
Verdict: Interrogation of rogue agent
London - November 03
No-one from the Organisation can find the bomb Agent Burgess was told to plant, so Freeman interrogates him. Burgess may have a trick up his sleeve. And where's the bomb?
Damian Kell, with oiled quiffed hair, and pinstripe suit, oozes menace as M15 man Freeman. Aimiable-looking Hugh Jones is the rogue element of the title. The film covers the questioning of one by the other, but who exactly is in control?
The production quality looks and sounds low-budget which goes well with the nature of the film, giving it almost a police interrogation security-camera feel. There's some interesting photography and colour shading, and risky line-crossing in the edit. The music (by director Rupert Lally) exactly complements the subject.
It's potentially a taut film. The script has some sharp dialogue, and an edit from its present 9 minutes to around 5 could be used to eliminate occasional over-writing and a few clichés which fractionally slow the present pace.
